Sccm vmware driver package

After you image a Virtual Machine, before you start using it, you install the VMware tools. There are alternate methods to install the VMware tools on guest machine. I will cover some of these methods in this post. You could either install VMware Tools manually or trigger the installation via the Server.

VMware Tools is a suite of utilities that enhances the performance of the virtual machines guest operating system. It also improves management of the virtual machine. Without VMware Tools installed in your guest operating system, guest performance lacks important functionality. To download any product from VMware site, you need an account. If you already have one, sign-in or you create a new account.

Specify the Package name as VMware Tools. Next, select This package contains source files and click Browse.

Specify the path of VMware Tools application. Click Next. According to VMware, the uninstall command listed below should work. I will update this post with the correct uninstall command whenever I see it working. Next, distribute the package to the distribution points. Deploy the VMware Tools package to the device collection. Intermixing System Center products does not usually pose any type of problems when they work together, but I recently ran into an issue with an environment where they were using Configuration Manager , Hyper-V and had some VMware mixed into the environment.

We were testing some deployment task sequences using a virtual machine that was housed on a VMware server and ran into an issue where the task sequence would fail after the first reboot during the build process. After quite a bit of research, we were finally able to determine the root cause to the failure. I have listed the steps below that we took in order to correct the problem. And then you are ready to deploy your task sequence to a machine that is housed on a VMware server farm.

I would like to note that this is in no way a guarantee that this will work for your environment. Every environment is different, but these steps worked for me. Any comments or feedback would be appreciated. Note 1: To import a subset of device drivers from a large directory, you can create a new subdirectory and copy the desired drivers into the newly created directory. Use the method above to import the contents of that subdirectory.

Each device driver should be imported into its own subdirectory. Run your VM and click F12 to boot from PXE, this will boot like charm and your task sequence will appear like in our case.
