As well as these rave reviews from critics, at the time of writing there are also almost user reviews, with just shy of of them being positive. Mario is still a much-loved character and this title really delivers, offering intuitive and fun game play with a touch of nostalgia.
WarioWare: Snapped! Is a mini game compilation which was released for the launch of the DSi. It makes heavy use of the handheld consoles camera and critics were not impressed. It achieved a very average metascore and user reviews are in line with this. Users were even more scathing than critics in places with a unanimous thumbs down and several complaints about the title not even working correctly.
The score is higher than I expected considering some of the comments. The five years this action-adventure game spent in development were well worth it. Released in , it was a launch game for the Switch and a swan song title for the Wii U.
The most overwhelming thing about this title is the sheer number of positive reviews. The switch version has positive critic reviews and a whopping 2, user ones.
Nintendo really knocked it out of the ballpark with this well thought out and incredibly playable open world title for The Legend of Zelda series. Mario Party is a popular multiplayer series, but this incarnation is almost exclusively single player. It is mostly down to this transition that the title achieved an uninspiring set of reviews. Most reviews are mixed, with many critics and players alike being unimpressed with the idea of a solo party. Although there are other games which use a similar mini game format the general feel is that this one just falls flat without its multiplayer element.
There are some fans of the game, the vast majority seem to believe it was a nice idea, poorly executed, which pales in comparison to other titles in the series.
Tenchu: Dark Secret is an action-adventure stealth game for the DS. The reviews are universally bad, with almost all being negative. Although the game boasts 40 stealth missions to play; critics slam the story, game play and graphics.
Not even the music escaped a panning. Even Tenchu fans are advised to skip this one. However, neither game can beat the first-person shooters mighty metascore. Based on the James Bond film Goldeneye, this classic shooter remains a much-loved game to this day. The ground-breaking multiplayer mode was backed up by an equally entertaining single player mode. A firm favorite and retro classic, which for many still holds up today in terms of game play and entertainment.
The newest game on our list of failures, Flip Wars is an action and tile-matching party game released for the Nintendo Switch in Time would prove that the Wii U had great potential.
They were glitchy nails in the coffin of the Wii U. It was those releases that further motivated people to just stick with other consoles. Talking about this game is like beating a deceased horse.
Instead of a next-gen Animal Crossing game on the Wii U, Nintendo decided to throw out a Mario Party clone without mini-games that had to use Amiibo to work. The unique controls can create some truly great moments, and the boss battles are extremely entertaining. The game makes great use of the GamePad with the multiple configurations of the Arwing as well. In a one-two punch, Nintendo released two of its worst party games on the Wii U.
It was a shame that, after the criticism of Mario Party 9 , Nintendo seemed to ignore all of it with Mario Party Not only did the car return, but the AI was broken, and the Bowser Party mode was horribly unbalanced. The mini-games were also hit or miss. When it launched, the Wii U struggled to gain a lot of attention without any major games.
The best of the bunch, though, was easily Nintendo Land. Not only was it an example of what could be done with the GamePad, but it was also a game that had a lot of creativity and passion put into it. Most of its various mini-games were slam dunks, being both exciting and fun. Being a more mature action and shooter game, a lot of people were intrigued by what it could mean for the Wii U and Nintendo as a whole.
The game was littered with technical issues and poor controls, which led to most discarding it from their wish lists. Still, when WiiWare shuts down later this month, it'll be a tragedy as dozens upon dozens of titles exclusive to the service will simply disappear.
Why is it so difficult to get a Double Dragon game right? Beyond the first two installments, there have been a few halfway-decent games among a whole bunch of really bad ones. Things have been even worse for DD in the last decade, with only Neon being a bright spot in a lot of darkness.
That it is a loose remake of the best game in the franchise makes the abject failure of this game on every level even more embarrassing. This game has the word "vroom" in its title. What else is there to say, really? Chances are, Vroom in the Night Sky the game on this list that the fewest number of people have heard of.
It was one of the first batch of indie games for the Nintendo Switch. It might have seemed like we were long past the days of the rushed, half-finished launch window games, but Vroom in the Night Sky proved that that tradition is alive and well. We apologize for this screenshot the extremely creepy Larry Laffer from Box Office Bust , especially if you were eating lunch while you scrolled past it.
It is one of the few bits of footage from that game that is appropriate to share, which is one of Box Office Bust 's many problems.
Classic Larry games mostly hinted at "action," and that was part of the charm. Box Office Bust abandons all subtlety and is essentially a soft-core adult game featuring a cast of women with beach balls for chests.
American Pie proved that naughty humor can be genuinely funny; Box Office Bust proves it can also be completely the opposite. Video games that are glorified commercials not only have a long history, but aren't always a recipe for disaster. Games like Cool Spot and Beetle Adventure Racing prove that building a game entirely around a real brand can sometimes still result in a genuinely good product. The simply-named Yaris , on the other hand, is an example of how badly a promotional video game can go.
It was completely broken, unreasonably difficult, and didn't even offer easy achievements. Even as a free game it was too expensive, and nobody shed a tear when it was later de-listed from Xbox Live Arcade.
Ride to Hell: Retribution, a game titled like a sequel even though it isn't one, was seemingly trying to capitalize on the TV show Sons of Anarchy which was hot at the time. Nobody would even have talked about or given Ride to Hell the time of day once it was apparent how awful it was were it not for the hilariously bad "love scenes. That's fitting, because the actual game is a bunch of components that epitomize a bad video game, randomly strung together. Amusingly, Family Party 's Wikipedia page has a sub-header for "accolades," but clicking on it reveals that the "accolades" are ScrewAttack 's worst Wii U game and worst overall game of That's fair, as a game this bad should be thankful that anyone even discussed it at all following its release.
It should have been subsequently erased from the memories of anyone who played it. Note: We're only including games we reviewed on IGN. Once again, Nintendo is demonstrating its unparalleled ability to craft some of the greatest gameplay this industry has ever seen. Was this article informative? YES NO.
