I then tried getting the PMS to source the file from the NAS so that I would only need to store my files in one place and then streaming it to the PS3 - this caused stuttering.

Apologies for the long post but hopefully will help someone in the future trying something similar. The fact the mkv's are h has nothing to do with it i think they mostly all are using h , it's the profile and number of reference frames that usually induces the need to transcode, plus of course if subs are required. If i was using mkv2vob to transcode stuff i'd probably then invest in a cheap external HDD, so I'd just need to plug that directly into the PS3 and then initiate playback Axum said:.
